"Nintendo World Championships" Final Results at NYCC

Once again, the Nintendo World Championships happened at New York Comic Con this weekend. Many people entered, but only 24 made it into the finals. This entire event was live streamed on and had over 40,000 people watching, live. The last World Championship to happen in NYCC was two years ago, so naturally, fans were excited to see it again this year. Several games were thrown into the mix this year, including Metroid: Samus Returns, Smash Bros., Mario Party 2, Breath of the Wild, and more.

Round after round was live streamed, and we saw people get eliminated, one after the other. The bracket was eventually down to just two competitors; John Numbers (last tournament's champion) and Thomas G. Both players battled hard, vying for the title of 2017 champion, all to be decided over the final game, Super Mario Odyssey. It was a very close match between both players, but in the end, Thomas G was able to figure out the final puzzle needed to defeat the boss, finishing before Numbers could and taking the Win! With Thomas G becoming the new champion, one can't help but wonder if we'll see more of him in the future.

Only time will tell, but we look forward to seeing the champion (hopefully) do more in eSports. Hopefully Nintendo will have the Championships again next year, instead of waiting two years like last time. Again, we shall see.
